Jae-yong

"By day, Jae-yong is your average office worker. By night, he is a karaoke GOD... or so he thinks. The jury is still out on his singing skills."

Class: Support

Rarity: Mythic

Trio: Karaoke with Melodie

Best skin: NA

Record title: "Amor Frati"

Jae-yong is a support brawler that can switch from providing speed buffs or healing with his super. He is versatile as a support since he can provide two types of buffs, and he also has solid range and mobility. His main drawback is his relatively low damage output, making him weak to aggressive brawlers.

Health: 3500 to 7000

Movement speed: Fast

Trait: Charges super automatically. Takes 6.6 seconds to fully charge.

Main Attack: Work Hard, Play Hard

"Fires a piercing projectile, with different effects depending on Jae-yong's mode.
WORK: Deals less damage, but creates slipstreams with projectiles that give speed boosts to teammates and himself
PARTY: Heals teammates with a piercing, damaging projectile."

Work(Speed) Mode Damage: 750 to 1500

Speed Boost Slipstream Duration: 2.5 seconds

Party(Heal) Mode Damage: 850 to 1700

Party(Heal) Mode Healing: 650 to 1300

Range: Long

Reload Speed: Normal

Jae-yong's main attack changes depending on what mode he is in, either providing a lingering speed boost or a healing shot. The healing shot deals more damage, but has a reduction for its healing. His projectiles also pierce, allowing him to hit allies and enemies at the same time. Both of his modes are great depending on the situation, but speed is often the better choice as it allows him to dodge and catch up to enemies easier, even though it deals less damage. His speed buff is also impactful on himself and if allies are full HP, allowing to get value at all times. Other than its supporting capabilities, Jae-yong's attack has a relatively long range and wide projectile, making it pretty easy to connect even at long range. However, it does have a slow projectile speed, making it easy for enemies to get out of its range.

Super: Mix It Up!

"Switch between Jae-yong's Work & Party modes! Switching modes changes Jae-yong's main attack and activates the matching ability.
WORK: Gives all nearby teammates a temporary movement speed boost.
PARTY: Heals all nearby teammates."

Work(Speed) Mode Speed Boost Duration: 2 seconds

Party(Heal) Mode Healing: 750 to 1500

Range: Short

Jae-yong's super is what allows him to switch between his heal and speed modes, and his super automatically charges very fast. However, it doesn't charge with his main attack, meaning he can only charge his super through his trait. Additionally, he gives allies nearby either a speed boost or heal when switching into the respective mode, providing extra support every few seconds.

Gadget 1: Weekend Warrior

"Deals area damage and increases main attack damage for 5 sec."

Cooldown: 15 seconds

Area Damage: 1300(max level)

Main Attack Damage: 2100(max level)

This gadget switches Jae-yong into a damage focused mode, dealing damage in a small area around him and boosting the damage of his attacks, however they provide no supporting buffs. This allows him to burst down some brawlers, since he has a relatively normal unload speed, however it can't do much against tanks and brawlers that jump right on top of him. Any super used while the damage mode is still active cancels out the damage mode.

Gadget 2: Time For A Slow Song

"Jae-yong slows enemies around him and his attacks will leave trails of slowing paperwork for 5 sec."

Cooldown: 15 seconds

Similar to his other gadget, this gadget switches Jae-yong into a slow mode, where his main attack slows enemies and leaves a slowing trail, essentially the opposite of his speed mode. It can be solid at helping Jae-yong and his team target certain brawlers, however Jae-yong is often reliant on his damage gadget for offensive presence, making this gadget overall a worse alternative.

Star Power 1: The Crowd Goes Mild

"Being near teammates gives Jae-yong a 10% speed boost per teammate in range."

This star power can provide Jae-Yong with a ton of extra speed even if just one teammate is close, enhancing his mobility even more. Combined with his speed mode and already fast movement speed, this can allow Jae-yong to have one of the fastest movement speeds in the game, allowing him to dodge a ton of shots, catch up to enemies easily, and gain position effectively. However, he still has low damage, so don't go too aggressive. Additionally, this star power is completely useless in a solo setting, but you really shouldn't be playing Jae-yong in a solo mode as he is exclusively a support brawler.

Star Power 2: Extra High Note

"Main Attacks now deal an additional 20% Damage per target pierced."

This star power almost never provides good value, as teammates don't count as a target. The cases where this star power gets value is too little, as enemies don't group up very often. Even though it is a great damage buff, it simply doesn't occur enough to make this a worthwhile star power.

Hypercharge: Temporal Traveling

"Jae's Super has a reduced cooldown during Hypercharge, and each Super activation is boosted."

Charge rate: 20 Speed Shots or 17 Heal Shots

Since Jae-Yong's super can't be charged through his main attack, his hypercharge is the only thing his main attack can charge up. His heal shots charge it up slightly faster due to its increased damage. The hypercharge overall is pretty solid, allowing Jae-yong to spam his super almost every second, getting 3-4 supers off in one hypercharge. Additionally, the heal from his healing super is boosted, allowing his hypercharge to be incredibly strong if synergized with his teammates properly. The constant speed boosts and healing can make his hypercharge a huge threat when combined with his team, forcing enemies far back due to how fast everyone is. However, his hypercharge can sometimes take a while to charge up, as you will often be focusing your shots on your teammates, and his hypercharge is very reliant on having good and aware teammates to take advantage of its amazing buffs.

Gear selection:

Jae-yong's best gears are shield and damage, as he has relatively low raw stats other than speed, making him reliant on the health and damage boosts from shield and damage gear to win more interactions.

Best Matchups:

Jae-yong's speed boosts and healing can be great at overwhelming enemy compositions with low damage and pressure, as he can enable his teammates to simply run them down with his support. Brawlers such as Penny, Gene, and Ruffs are brawlers that Jae-Yong can do solid into with good teammates, as they don't have the damage to deal with either his speed buffs or healing. Penny and Ruffs in particular are solid matchups for Jae-yong, as his attacks pierce through their spawns.

Best Counters:

Jae-yong is countered well by assassins and tanks, as he often doesn't have the burst damage output to deal with them, even with his Weekend Warrior gadget. Frank and Meg can simply run him down with their sheer HP, and Crow is a great counter to his support abilities with his healing reduction, easy to hit main attack, assassinating super, and potentially his slowing gadget.

Best Game Modes:

Jae-yong is a great support brawler in Knockout and Bounty/Wipeout in particular, as he has great range for a support brawler, allowing him to hold his own against some marksman played in these modes. His supportive buffs are great here if his teammates play near him, as they constantly get his speed and shield buffs, allowing them to play more aggressive.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Make sure to be consistently using Jae-yong's attacks on his teammates, as the buffs they provide can often be better than the damage they deal. Be aware of the situation and when you need to focus on damage or buffs.

  • Knowing when to use each mode is crucial to Jae-yong's gameplay. Speed is often better, and you should mainly switch into heal mode when your teammate falls low. If you fall low, you can either fully retreat and heal up, staying in speed mode, or you can switch into heal mode for the AOE heal and keep fighting. However, you likely want to switch back into speed mode as soon as you can.

  • Jae-yong's speed shot always provides a speed boost to himself, allowing him to be sped up with every shot in speed mode. This allows him to catch up to enemies very quickly, making him a solid brawler to finish off retreating enemies.

  • Sticking around teammates is very important when playing Jae-yong. Not only does he get a huge speed boost from The Crowd Goes Mild, but his super buffs are more likely to apply, his main attack buffs are easier to land, and Jae-yong himself is a weak standalone brawler.

  • If there is a brawler you want to burst down close to you, try to get into heal mode. Then, use switch into speed mode to get the AOE speed boost, and use his Weekend Warrior gadget while at full ammo. This allows him to be an incredibly fast brawler with respectable burst damage, allowing him to quickly close the gap and burst brawlers at around 6000 health(at max level).

  • When aiming against still targets such as spawns or the Heist safe, don't auto-aim with Finx. Auto-aim only hits the center projectile, so you need to manually aim to get the center and one of the side projectiles to connect.

  • Jae-yong's hypercharge charge rate is dependent on the damage of his attacks. This means that the attack with the largest charge rate is his Weekend Warrior attacks, followed by his heal attacks, followed by his speed attacks.

  • Jae-yong hypercharge requires good timing and team coordination to use properly to make use out of its buffs, so don't immediately use it and wait for the perfect opportunity.
