Doug

"Doug's hot dogs will extend your friends' shelf life."

Class: Support

Rarity: Mythic

Trio: Velocirapids with Buzz and Pierce

Best skin: Knight Doug

Mastery title: "Wiener"

Doug is a solid support that can also be played as a tank. He has one of the most impactful supers in the game, being able to revive him or an ally to full health. He can charge his super up from healing, and also carries a huge amount of burst damage with one of his gadgets.

Health: 5000 to 10000

Movement speed: Fast

Trait: Charges super with healing.

Main Attack: Snack Attack

"Fresh food for friends, expired for others. Heals allies and damages enemies."

Damage: 1200 to 2400

Healing: 600 to 1200

Range: Short

Reload Speed: Normal

Doug's main attack is a circular attack that heals allies and damages enemies around him. Allies are healed 50% of damage, and healing also charges up Doug's super at a 50% ratio. It can be unloaded fast, giving Doug both solid burst damage and healing through walls with a decent reload speed. However, it has an incredibly short range around Doug, requiring him to either get extremely close to enemies or allies to heal or damage them.

Super: Second Serving

"A special spiced up hot dog for a target ally or Doug himself. When a buffed Brawler is defeated they will come back with 100% health after a short delay."

Duration: 5 seconds

Range: Very Long

Doug's super throws out a hot dog that homes in on allies and goes through allies, or can be autoaimed to use on himself. If an ally with a hot dog dies within the next 5 seconds, they will fully revive their health after a 2 second delay, however they don't get an immunity as if they were normally respawning. This can allow for some clutch saves on teammates, and can make Doug and his teammates incredibly hard to kill if they are going aggressive and Doug is cycling his super.

Gadget 1: Double Sausage

"The next Snack Attack only heals allies but doubles the amount."

Cooldown: 15 seconds

This gadget is only really useful on maps that favor long-ranged brawlers, as Doug will almost never be using his attacks for damage. The occasional extra healing can give decent value throughout the game, and the shot also charges his super up twice as much, allowing for him to get his super more often.

Gadget 2: Extra Mustard

"The next Snack Attack only damages enemies but doubles the amount."

Cooldown: 15 seconds

This gadget makes Doug's next attack deal double damage, allowing him to have some serious burst damage if he gets near an enemy. It chunks down the health of even tanky brawlers, making Doug a huge threat as an aggressive brawler. It also charges his super up twice as much, making it much easier to cycle.

Star Power 1: Fast Food

"When Doug revives an ally successfully, he will heal for 100% of his maximum health."

This is overall a very mediocre star power, since when you are reviving an ally, you'll either be on full health or not need the extra HP. Overall, it has a large amount of potential value, however it is incredibly hard to get maximum value out of this star power.

Star Power 2: Self Service

"Snack Attack also heals Doug by 480."

This star power may seem underwhelming, but it allows Doug to heal a small portion of his own health with each attack, which makes it so he doesn't have to passively heal as often. This healing also charges up his super a small bit, which can add up throughout the game, allowing him to get his super even more often just from taking damage.

Hypercharge: Free Toppings

"Doug's Snack Attack is also mirrored for the ally buffed with the Second Serving."

Charge rate: 2 supers

If Doug uses his hypercharged super on an ally, while the hotdog is active, whenever he uses his main attack, it will also appear around the ally with the hotdog. It doesn't have any additional effect if used on Doug himself. This hypercharge can allow for some crazy burst damage if used on an aggressive brawler, and can also help keep them alive with the healing and revive. The stat boosts are also useful for Doug since he can played aggressively, giving him the extra speed he needs to run into the enemy and recharge his super.

Gear selection:

Damage is Doug's best gear overall, giving him both extra damage and healing at low health, which he will often be at since he can revive himself. Speed is his second best gear, as he can be played on bushy maps thanks to his high burst damage, and speed gear helps him close the gap on enemies. On more passive maps, gadget gear can be very effective, allowing for more burst healing from his Double Sausage gadget.

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

Doug excels against low range brawlers that can't knock him back or deal a lot of damage, as he can simply run at them with his high health and resurrecting super, and they can't take him down. Brawlers such as Kenji and Mortis struggle to take down Doug due to their lack of crowd control and sustained damage. Doug is also a great counter to chip-style brawlers on longer ranged maps, as he can charge up his super incredibly fast with his healing. Gene is a great example of this, as he has long-ranged, easy to hit, low damaging projectiles, which can allow Doug to easily charge his super. Additionally, if Gene pulls Doug or one of his teammates, Doug can use his super to potentially save them, putting Gene and his team at a massive disadvantage.

Best Counters:

Doug gets shut down by most conventional tank counters, shutting him down with their crowd control and high damage. Brawlers such as Lou and Clancy can easily farm Doug, which often leads to Doug and his team getting wiped. Doug's super also a delay before reviving, allowing enemies to pre-fire their shots on the revived brawler. Frank in particular is best for this, as he can use his super to instantly stun the revived brawler, making them incredibly easy to kill. His stun is also a good counter to Doug in general, and he is nearly impossible for Doug to kill due to his incredibly high health.

Best Game Modes:

As a healer/tank hybrid, Doug is a great brawler for Knockout, keeping him and his allies alive in the first interactions, then reviving them and being incredibly hard to deal with when the poison closes in. His hypercharge is also incredibly strong here, allowing for some potentially cheesy plays. Bounty is also a good mode for him for similar reasons, however it is harder for him to have a large impact on the game due to it not having the gas clouds to force enemies into his short range.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Doug's hypercharge is incredibly strong combined with brawlers that have an ability that can get them right next to the enemies, allowing Doug's attack to hit them. This is great with brawlers such as Gray, Mortis, and Kit.

  • Doug can be a great aggressive brawler on maps that have a lot of cover due to his super. He has the potential to cycle his super very effectively, especially with his gadgets, and can become almost unkillable if executed correctly.

  • Doug's hypercharge also combos extremely well with Janet's super, as she can fly above the enemies, immune to damage, while Doug can attack them freely.

  • Doug strategies on ranged maps rely on him and his team sticking together, which can lead to the composition getting countered by splash damage dealers. Try to analyze the opponent's composition and focus on pushing single target brawlers with your team.

  • With Extra Mustard, Doug can be a very efficient burst brawler on bushy maps, as he can unload almost 10000 damage in just 3 shots.

  • Know when to play Doug as a healer and as a tank. This is mainly dependent on the game mode and map, but it also changes based on the situation, as there is often a more effective choice.

  • Doug's hot dog lasts for 5 seconds, so try to pop it when you think you or an ally will be taking a lot of damage. The hot dog often makes enemies not want to attack you, as they know you will just get revived. This can lead to Doug and his team gaining a lot of position on the map if used properly.

  • Try not to use Doug's super when low on ammo, as it makes it very hard to cycle his super through both his healing or damage.

  • If you are extremely close to your super with Doug, you can take some damage and then heal yourself up with his Self Service star power to get the necessary super charge.
