Edgar

"Edgar believes nobody understands him. Certainly not his mom, who thinks he's going through a phase. Only he knows the darkness in his soul is eternal."

Class: Assassin

Rarity: Epic

Trio: Gift shop with Collette and Griff

Best skin: Angel Edgar

Mastery title: "CEO of Brawl Stars"

Edgar is a relatively easy to play marksman who is great at jumping on unsuspecting targets. He can do a lot of damage and has life steal, however he has low HP and very short range.

Health: 3300 to 6600

Movement speed: Very Fast

Main Attack: Fight Club

"Hits enemies with quick punches from his scarf, healing himself for each landed punch."

Normal Damage: 2 x 540 to 1080

Range: Short

Reload speed: Very Fast

Edgar's main attack allows him to deal a lot of DPS, as it unloads and reloads very fast. He can often unload 4 or 5 ammo before other brawlers can unload 3. It also has 35% lifesteal, allowing him to win more interactions and have more HP than he seems.

Super: Vault

"Edgar jumps over any obstacle and gets a temporary speed boost. His Super will slowly charge over time."

Range: Normal

Edgar's super is what really makes him an assassin, a simple jump that gives him a good speed boost. He can use this jump to get close to enemies or to dodge some shots. It also charges passively, allowing for Edgar to automatically get his super over time.

Trait: Charges super over time. Takes around 30 seconds to fully charge.

Gadget 1: Let's Fly

"Edgar's Super charges faster, 525% for 4 seconds."

Cooldown: 21 seconds

This gadget essentially gives Edgar a free super, allowing him to jump more in a game. It should also be used pretty much off cooldown, as there is no downside to using it.

Gadget 2: Hardcore

"Edgar gets a shield that protects him from the next 3300 damage. The shield gets weaker over time."

Cooldown: 17 seconds

This gadget helps Edgar survive more interactions against brawlers that usually counter him. It essentially gives him 50% more HP, allowing him to catch enemies off guard when they think he is dead. Overall, this gadget is better in a 1v1 scenario or against his counters, and his other one is better in team scenarios or against brawlers he counters.

Star Power 1: Hard Landing

"Edgar's Super will also deal 1350 damage to nearby enemies upon landing."

This star power allows Edgar to get a little more damage every time he jumps on an enemy. It sometimes helps him win more interactions, however it sometimes also reduces his supercharge, as the enemy will be on lower HP.

Star Power 2: Fisticuffs

"Edgar receives 25% more healing from the damage he deals."

This star power also helps Edgar win more interactions, as he has greater lifesteal with his main attack, which is pretty useful. Overall, both of Edgar's star powers provide small buffs to him, not anything game-changing. Fisticuffs is probably the better one overall.

Hypercharge: Outburst

"After using Super gain charging speed and reload speed for few seconds."

Charge rate: 3 and 1/6 supers

Speed buff: 15%

Damage buff: 24%

Shield buff: 15%

While Edgar's hypercharge is active, he gains double reload speed and doubles his super charge rate. This leads to him getting a ton of jumps off, and with the stat boosts, can allow him to easily get 2 or or more kills. It also charges automatically thanks to his trait, so you will almost always get at least one per game. His Let's Fly gadget does not additionally charge his hypercharge, however.

Epic Gear: Super Charge

This gear increases Edgar's overall super charge rate by 10%.

Gear selection:

Shield gear and super charge gear are the best gears for Edgar, as they give him the best boosts overall. Shield helps him with his relatively low HP for his range, and supercharge helps him charge his super faster, both automatically and by hitting enemies. Damage is also a good gear, however, and is useful in Showdown to help you win more interactions, as the increased damage also increases his lifesteal.

Best build:

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

Edgar excels against throwers, as they have very limited ways to defend themselves when a brawler is up close to them. Edgar can easily jump them from behind walls and kill them with his high burst damage. Artillery brawlers such as Dynamike, Barley, and Grom struggle to defend against him as they struggle to take him down once he jumps on them.

Best Counters:

Edgar is countered by any brawler that can either deal a ton of damage to him, crowd control him easily, or get away from him easily. Overall, brawlers with high melee damage are the best counters against him as it is almost impossible for Edgar to win against them. Good examples of this are Shelly, Surge, and Bull.

Best Game Modes:

Edgar is best in Showdown, as his abilities as an assassin allow him to quickly scale up with cubes and take down many brawlers in a 1v1. He is also good in duels, however it is very rock-paper-scissors, as some matchups are a guaranteed win and some are a guaranteed loss.

Tips and Tricks:

  • When going up against a counter, try to use your Hardcore gadget when you are around 50% HP, as your lifesteal won't take effect if you are at max HP when you pop the shield. However, you don't want to use it at too low HP either.

  • Before getting your super in a 3v3, you should try to play as passive as possible to avoid feeding enemies super.

  • Let's Fly combined with Edgar's super charge gear gives him a full super in 4 seconds, allowing him to jump his targets almost immediately after the match starts.

  • Edgar is a very rock-paper-scissors brawler, as his matchups are either guaranteed wins or losses. This means you should almost always use him as a last pick in Ranked.

  • You can combine Edgar's Let's Fly gadget with his hypercharge to get an insane amount of supers, often getting 3 or 4 in one hypercharge. This can lead to him easily getting at least 2 kills.

  • When going up against tanks or counters, try to use your super to dodge some of their shots, as this can lead to you winning the interaction, as Edgar likely has a faster reload speed than them.

  • Don't go in mindlessly with Edgar, keep track of the enemies' abilities that counter you and their ammo, and only go in when they can't kill you.
