Grom
"Grom is a brawny security guard with one weak point: the flashback he gets from his time working at a kindergarten. Those kids were merciless."
Class: Artillery
Rarity: Epic
Trio: Castle Courtyard with Ash and Moe
Best skin: Protector Grom
Mastery title: "With one left hand!"

Grom is a high-ranged thrower that can do good damage with his main attack and super, however they have a very predictable and easy to dodge pattern, making him hard to play at high level gameplay.

Health: 2800 to 5600
Movement speed: Normal

Main Attack: Bud Go Boom!
"Grom hurls Bud, his exploding walkie-talkie! The blast moves in the shape of a cross, hurting enemies caught in its path."
Damage: 1140 to 2280
Range: Long
Reload speed: Slow
Grom's main attack is a bomb that explodes in a plus-shaped pattern. It deals a lot of damage, has an above average reload speed, and has a very long range. However, it takes a long time to land, and its pattern is very easy to learn, making it easy for good players to consistently dodge it if they are paying attention. It also takes a long time to land near him, making it very hard to hit brawlers up close.

Super: Grom Bomb
"Grom launches a devastating bomb with Bud's help! The Grom Bomb inflicts huge damage, breaks walls and the force from its blast pushes all enemies backwards."
Damage: 1600 to 3200
Range: Long
Grom's super follows the same plus-shaped pattern, except it is much wider and deals a ton of damage and knockback. It is also very easy to hit, unlike his main attack, but it still takes a long time to land if aimed next to him. Additionally, it breaks walls and bushes, but stops if it hits a wall.

Gadget 1: Watchtower
"Grom ejects a Watchtower from his Grom Bomb that gives all allies sight into bushes over a large area. The watchtower slowly loses health over time."
Cooldown: 20 seconds
Health: 1500(max level)
Duration: 20 seconds
This gadget can be very useful on bushy maps, as it has a very large radius to reveal enemies. It can also tank a heavy shot, similar to other gadgets spawners.

Gadget 2: Radio Check
"Grom's next attack fires 3 Buds in rapid succession."
Cooldown: 15 seconds
This gadget adds a lot more damage potential to Grom's main atttack, and has a pretty short cooldown. This means this gadget can pretty much be spammed as soon as it is available. However, you will likely miss against a moving target, so try to use it against a stationary target.

Star Power 1: Foot Patrol
"When Grom's Super is fully charged, he gains +15% faster movement speed!"
This is a really bad star power, as the way to get value out of it is to not use Grom's super, which is one of the best parts of his kit. The movement speed boost also isn't very useful for a thrower like Grom, making this star power useless.

Star Power 2: X-Factor
"The split from Grom's main attack deals up to 30% extra damage at max distance."
This is a great star power that allows Grom's attacks to deal more general damage, since you will be hitting enemies at all ranges of his attack. Especially against stationary targets, this star power can add up to a lot of damage, especially when combined with his Radio Check gadget.

Hypercharge: Grom Bomb Goes Boom!
"Grom's Super gains a secondary explosion after the first, in an X-pattern. This explosion also deals damage, breaks walls and knocks enemies back."
Charge rate: 2 and 1/2 supers
Speed buff: 24%
Damage buff: 25%
Shield buff: 5%
Grom's hypercharge essentially gives him 2 supers, dealing a ton of damage in the process. It can also hit enemies twice, dealing double the damage and double the knockback as well. However, it does take quite a long time to get, especially against players who can dodge Grom's main attack.

Gear selection:
Shield and damage are great gears for Grom, as they give him more survivability and damage. In Heist, gadget gear can also be useful to spam out Radio Check more often, leading to more damage on the safe.

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:
Grom is best into brawlers with low mobility, as they will struggle more to dodge his shots. He also does well into brawlers with spawners. This makes him good into 8-Bit, Pam, since they are brawlers with low mobility and a turret that Grom can easily take out. Grom can also be good into more squishy brawlers, such as Spike, as he doesn't have much mobility or a consistent way to hit Grom from behind walls.

Best Counters:
Grom is hard countered by brawlers who can easily get on top of him, as he has no consistent way to deal damage to them once they close the gap. Brawlers such as Edgar, Mortis, and Mico can get to him from behind a wall and easily kill him.

Best Game Modes:
Grom's best modes are Bounty and Knockout, as he can use his long range and ability as a thrower to force opponents back from behind walls. His super and hypercharge can also be a game changer in both of these modes, setting up kills/teamwipes. He can also be good into Heist due to his good stationary target damage. However, you should be wary of the enemy composition and try to make sure they don't counter you.

Tips and Tricks:
-
Try to hit enemies at the edge of Grom's projectile to get extra damage from X-Factor. It is also slightly harder for enemies to dodge.
-
Try to focus on multiple enemies at once with Grom, as they might not be expecting your shots, therefore not being able to dodge it. Alternate between his main attack, super, and Radio Check gadget to catch enemies off guard.
-
Grom's super can break walls, so be careful that you don't break walls that you are relying on.
-
Grom's hypercharge can hit the same enemy twice, dealing 8000 damage.
-
You can use the knockback from Grom's super/hypercharge to line up your next main attack to hit. You can also use his Radio Check gadget for even more damage.
-
Grom's Watchtower gadget can be very useful for tanking a large projectile, increasing his survivability.
