Hank

"Hank is a one-shrimp, one-tank army on a mission to liberate sea life from kitchens and markets everywhere. Chefs, consider yourselves on notice!"

Class: Tank

Rarity: Epic

Trio: Deep Sea with Otis and Clancy

Best skin: Jam Master Hank

Mastery title: "Prawn Ready!"

Hank is a unique tank, being able to shoot through walls with his main attack, which needs to be charged. He has a ton of HP, especially when combined with his super, which can also do a lot of damage if used properly.

Health: 5200 to 10400

Movement speed: Normal

Main Attack: Balloon Blast

"The longer you hold, the deadlier the blast."

Minimum damage: 525 to 1050

Maximum damage: 2100 to 4200

Range: Short

Reload Speed: Very Fast

Hank's attack is a bubble that can be charged up to become bigger and deal more damage. The bubble pops when you let go of the attack button and does damage. It will also pop if you hold it for too long. It can also be used through walls, and can be charged up by holding down auto-aim as well. It can deal a ton of burst damage through walls, but has low damage at point- blank range.

Super: Fish Torpedo

"Hank launches Fish Torpedoes in all directions, and he heals for a part of his missing health."

Damage: 6 x 1320 to 2640

Range: Very Long

Heal: 50%

Hank's super can deal a ton of damage even if just one of the projectiles hit, and they have incredibly long range. However, it takes a lot of skill to hit enemies that are far away since it fires in a set pattern, so it is best used up close on enemies to get as much damage as possible. The healing is also amazing, letting Hank have much more HP than he seems.

Trait: Charges super from taking damage(aka tank trait)

Gadget 1: Water Balloons

"The next Balloon Blast also slows down enemies for 3 seconds."

Cooldown: 11 seconds

This can be a decent gadget, allowing for hank to get kills on enemies a bit easier. It can also allow his teammates to secure kills on enemies. However, this gadget can be easy to predict, as enemies that see him use it will simply run away so they won't get hit.

Gadget 2: Barricade

"Hank takes 40% reduced damage for 3 seconds."

Cooldown: 18 seconds

This is an amazing gadget for Hank, drastically increasing his tankiness and allowing for him to take a bunch more damage. It also provides more value to his healing from his super, as it still heals the same amount while enemies are dealing less damage to him. It can also be used pretty much off cooldown due to the value it gives.

Star Power 1: It's Gonna Blow

"When Balloon Blast is charged over 80%, Hank gains 10% extra movement speed."

This is a solid star power for Hank, allowing him to close down enemies easier when his bubble is near full. It can also be used to dodge more shots or move up the map easier.

Star Power 2: Take Cover!

"Hank takes 20% less damage when near a wall."

This is a very awkward star power to use, as you literally need to hug a wall in order to get the shield. This is pretty much always less than ideal, making it seem like you have to force yourself to get value out of this star power.

Hypercharge: Homing Fish-iles

"The Fish Torpedoes that Hank fires with his Super have been upgraded to home in on targets!"

Charge rate: 2 and 1/2 supers

Speed buff: 24%

Damage buff: 5%

Shield buff: 25%

Hank has a solid hypercharge, allowing for him to snipe enemies with his super more consistently. It also charges fast and has great stat boosts, making this hypercharge a worthy investment.

Gear selection:

Hank's best gears are damage and health, as with damage gear active he can deal almost 5000 damage with his main attack, crippling most brawlers and killing the rest if he is able to connect it. Health is also amazing for him since he has such high HP, allowing him to heal thousands of HP per second. It is also quite annoying to heal up with Hank, as he can't charge up his attack, so this gear allows him to heal up faster so he can start charging up his next attack.

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

Hank is a brawler that is generally good into everything but his counters, provided that there are a lot of walls on the map. He can use his main attack to pressure passive brawlers, and can protect himself against aggressive brawlers with his super. His best matchups are against squishy midrangers that can't burst him down from behind a wall. Good examples of this are Leon, as he can't hit around walls, doesn't do much damage from a distance, and can't burst down Hank due to his slow reload speed. Similarly, Spike is a solid matchup for Hank even though he has high burst damage, he can't do much if Hank attacks him from behind a wall. Hank is also a good counter to Rico due to him being low HP and not being able to deal with Hank's pressure from behind walls.

Best Counters:

Hank has a few select counters that can make him almost completely useless in game. His biggest weakness is his main attack being cancelled with stuns or knockbacks, which his counters excel at. The best one is Dynamike, as he outputs a ton of damage behind walls and his stun is devastating for Hank. El Primo is also a solid matchup due to him being able to knock Hank around with his combo and being able to tank his main attack. Gale is also great into Hank because of his numerous crowd control abilities.

Best Game Modes:

Hank is a relatively versatile tank, being good in any mode, provided that the map has a lot of walls. His best modes are Brawl Ball, Hot Zone, and Gem Grab, as those modes often have a lot of walls, and Hank's pressuring ability is very valuable in these modes.

Tips and Tricks:

  • With Hank, auto-aim is the best way to use his main attack. Hold down auto-aim while charging, and then release. It slightly extends your range, allowing you to connect more high-damage shots.

  • Hank carries a ton of pressure with his main attack alone. When enemies see his bubble charging up, they will often retreat. Use this pressure to your advantage.

  • Try to learn how to snipe people with Hank's super. It can take a lot of practice, but it allows you to get more value out of your super and cycle it more efficiently.

  • It can be hard to heal up with Hank, since charging his bubble stops him from passively healing. Make sure that whenever you heal you are healing up to max HP, to make sure he doesn't have to start healing immediately after.

  • When at point blank range with Hank, it is best to just spam his attack, as it outputs slightly more damage than charging his attack up.

  • Hank's super is mostly used against other tanks or assassins that try to take him down up close. It can deal a ton of damage and healing, allowing for Hank to still have a good matchup against tanks and assassins.
