Pearl

"Against all odds, Pearl found her way into Belle's and Sam's hardened hearts thanks to her disarmingly warm nature. Besides, who can resist chocolate cookies?"

Class: Damage Dealer

Rarity: Epic

Trio: Goldarm Gang with Belle and Sam

Best skin: Dark Keep Pearl

Mastery title: "Let Me Cook!"

Pearl is a high-health brawler with solid range that thrives in passive gameplay, as she deals more damage over time. She requires a much different playstyle than other damage dealers, needing a lot of patience to play right.

Health: 3900 to 7800

Movement speed: Normal

Trait: Heat Bar

Pearl has a heat bar underneath her health that slowly fills up over time. The higher the heat, the more damage she will do. When using her attack or super, her heat goes down. At maximum heat, she deals 75% more damage. It takes around 12 seconds to fully heat up.

Main Attack: Hot Cookies

"Rapid fire hot cookies directly out from the oven, slightly cooling the oven while damaging enemies on hit. The higher the Heat the higher the damage."

Damage: 260 to 520

Damage at max heat: 455 to 910

Range: Long

Reload Speed: Normal

Pearl has a solid main attack, having a good range, spread, and a lot of projectiles. When fully heated up, Pearl can do a ton of burst damage with her attack, shredding through squishy brawlers caught in her range. Even though she has a relatively fast reload speed, don't spam out your attacks, as you want to keep your heat as high as possible

Super: Let Out Some Steam

"Consume and release all the built up Heat in an explosion, damaging all nearby enemies. The higher the Heat the higher the damage."

Damage: 1550 to 3100

Damage at max heat: 2712 to 5425

Range: Short

Pearl's super deals a huge amount of damage after a delay, knocks back enemies, and breaks open the environment. However, the range is incredibly short, making it really only useful defensively against assassins. It also completely drains Pearl's heat, making her deal a lot less damage after using her super, making it often impractical to use it to break walls.

Gadget 1: Overcooked

"Next basic attack shoots burning cookies, dealing 1040 extra damage over time."

Cooldown: 15 seconds

With Pearl's next attack, if she hits even one cookie, the enemy will take burn damage for 4 seconds. This is an amazing gadget for Pearl, actually allowing her to one shot some brawlers if she is fully heated up. The burn also prevents enemies from healing for a few seconds, making them retreat further and allowing Pearl and her team to gain position. It can be used pretty much off cooldown as well, since it is just a straight buff to her main attack.

Gadget 2: Made With Love

"Next basic attack shoots perfectly baked cookies ignoring enemies and healing allies for 2800 over time instead."

Cooldown: 11 seconds

This is a terrible gadget for Pearl, as she isn't supposed to be played as a healer. It also still uses up Pearl's heat, making it a waste of an attack most of the time. Her first gadget is much better and provides much more value over this one.

Star Power 1: Pyrolytic

"Super will consume 50% less Heat when used."

This may seem like a good star power at first, as it makes her super less punishing to use. However, you will rarely even use Pearl's super, making this star power mostly unviable unless going up against multiple aggressive brawlers.

Star Power 2: Heat Shield

"While the Heat is over 80%, reduce damage taken by 20%."

This is an amazing star power for Pearl, rewarding you if you are able to build up your heat high enough. 20% damage reduction on top of her already high HP makes her incredibly bulky for a brawler with good range, making it much harder to take her down.

Hypercharge: Pyrolytic

"Let Out Some Steam leaves a burning area behind for 4.5 seconds."

Charge rate: 2 and 1/2 supers

Speed buff: 25%

Damage buff: 25%

Shield buff: 5%

This hypercharge's effect is complete garbage, as Pearl's super will literally knock enemies outside the burning area. It doesn't even do that much damage, and you won't be using Pearl's super very often either. It can also take a while to charge up, making this hypercharge an almost complete waste of your gold outside of the decent stat buffs.

Gear selection:

Pearl's best gears are health and shield, as her high HP combined with her Heat Shield star power give good value to both gears. Health gear allows her to heal a ton of health quickly, and shield gear gets increased value with the damage reduction. Damage can also be a great gear choice, so health or shield can be swapped out if you prefer.

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

Pearl is a great counter to most marksmen or long-ranged brawlers, as she can push up with her high health and shred their low HP with her Overcooked gadget. Brawlers such as Colt and Piper are especially vulnerable to this, as they all have incredibly low HP and can be hard to hit shots with if the enemy Pearl has skilled movement. Pearl is also great into Gene, as he has low damage at longer ranges, allowing Pearl to push up. Additionally, Gene cannot use his pull against Pearl if she has her super, as it will destroy Gene and anyone nearby if he attempts to pull her.

Best Counters:

Peral can often struggle against brawlers with high HP and range, as she can't kill them easily with her main attack, and they can pressure her back themselves, forcing Pearl to waste heat in order to keep position. 8-Bit is a great example of this, as he can keep his distance even with his slow speed, and is a very hard kill for Pearl. Buster is also great into Pearl even though he doesn't have much range, as he can charge his super up passively and his shield is great at blocking Pearl's shots. Lastly, throwers are also a great counter to Pearl, as it takes a long time to get her super, and throwers can force Pearl back. Larry & Lawrie is a great choice to zone Pearl out and force her into her spawn.

Best Game Modes:

Pearl's best modes are Knockout and Bounty, as she can use their passive nature to her advantage, allowing her to build up her heat more consistently. She is also great at countering all the squishy marksmen played in those modes, and can also defend herself against potential assassin picks with her super.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Pearl's hypercharge is used almost exclusively for her stat boosts. The effect is almost useless, so don't waste your coins on it.

  • Movement is very important with Pearl, as she has high health but can get outranged. Dodge shots to get within range, then burst down the enemy, preferably with her Overcooked gadget for extra damage.

  • Try not to let your heat dip below 80%, as Pearl is often reliant on her Heat Shield star power for survivability.

  • When playing Pearl in Knockout or Bounty, try to catch the enemies off guard in bushes, as you can use your overcooked gadget to potentially one-shot them.

  • Pearl is a very safe choice in her best modes, as most conventional picks don't do too well against her. However, if you are going against 3 marksman on a very open map, it can be very hard to get within range.
