Frank

"Frank is a good-natured giant who helps out at the mortuary by day and spin tunes at the Club by night. He doesn't get a lot of sleep, and it shows."

Class: Tank

Rarity: Epic

Trio: Undead with Emz and Mortis

Best skin: Spirit Knight Frank

Title: "The Tank"

Prestige Title: "Certified Lobotomy"

Frank is a powerhouse of a brawler, sporting the highest HP in the game with some good damage to boot and a powerful stun with his super. However, he can be countered easily due to his relatively short range and long windup before his attacks and super.

Health: 6800 to 13600

Movement speed: Fast

Trait: Charges super from taking damage(aka tank trait)

Main Attack: Hammer Hit

"Frank takes a while to wind up his hammer blow, but the hit is so hard it sends a shockwave. His attack speed goes up when his health goes down."

Damage: 1160 to 2320

Range: Normal

Reload speed: Very Fast

Frank's main attack can be very powerful, as it does good damage in a wide area and pierces through enemies. However, it has a pretty short range, and a large delay before the attack. During the delay, Frank cannot move either, leaving him as a potential sitting duck for the enemies to attack. The delay does get shorter the lower his health is, allowing him to take enemies by surprise on low health with his damage output.

Super: Stunning Blow

"Frank's greatest hit sends a shockwave that destroys environment and stuns enemies for a while."

Damage: 1240 to 2480

Stun duration: 2 seconds

Charge Rate: 3 hits

Recharge Rate: 3 hits

Range: Long

Frank's super is similar to his main attack, as it has the same shape and properties, albeit having more range. It does take a long time to wind up however, and doesn't go down the lower his HP is. However, the super is incredibly powerful if you land it, as the stun duration is long enough for any brawler caught inside to be considered dead. The wallbreak is also quite useful, as you can stun the enemies even if they are behind walls.

Gadget 1: Active Noise Canceling

"Fires a soundwave in a target direction, dealing 1200 damage to Brawlers. Frank becomes immune to Crowd Control for 3.5 seconds."

Cooldown: 16 seconds

This is a very useful gadget for Frank, as he is heavily countered by the enemies having crowd control effects. This gadget allows for him to walk through any stuns or knockbacks he faces, guaranteeing him to release his super and attacks. The projectile itself isn't very effective however, as it deals little damage.

Gadget Buffie

"Soundwave also destroys enemy projectiles."

This buffie is almost useless for Frank. It may sound good, but it is very hard to get the soundwave to destroy a meaningful projectile and get value out of the normal gadget at the same time. Using the gadget to destroy projectiles also opens up the risk of not having it available to stop crowd control, making this buffie virtually worthless for this gadget.

Gadget 2: Irresistible Attraction

"Frank aims a long-range attack that pulls enemies torwards him. Consumes ammo. Does 2480 damage."

Cooldown: 20 seconds

This is another great gadget for Frank, making him a constant threat while he has this gadget available. While it is hard to land due to it having to wind up like his main attack and having being a thin projectile, it has great range and is almost a guaranteed kill if it connects due to it making the enemy unable to attack while being pulled.

Gadget Buffie

"Enemies are slowed for 2 sec when hit."

This buffie makes it almost impossible for enemies to escape Frank after being hit by his gadget, making them an almost guaranteed kill. The slow effect is incredibly strong, nearly stopping their movement entirely, making it even easier for Frank or his teammates to get the kill.

Star Power 1: Power Grab

"Frank steals the power of a Brawler he defeats, increasing his damage by 15% for 12 seconds!"

This is a very good star power, as it allows Frank to deal even more damage if he gets a kill. The damage increase is solid with a long duration, which can easily snowball into Frank getting more kills.

Star Buffie

"Defeating a Brawler increases attack damage by 15% for 12 secs. Heal for 4480 health over 3 secs."

This buffie gives Frank additional health as well from getting a kill, a huge amount of it as well. It simply provides another solid effect to Power Grab, and increasing Frank's already high health.

Star Power 2: Sponge

"Frank gains +1360 health."

This is a simple star power, giving Frank extra max health, increasing his surivability. It is best used when against enemies with low damage output to make Frank even more impossible to kill.

Star Buffie

"Take 10% less damage when above 50% health."

This is a strong buffie for Frank, further increasing his effective health with the Sponge star power equipped. It also allows Frank to have an even better synergy with healers, as their heals are not reduced while Frank's damage taken is reduced.

Hypercharge: Seismic Smash

"Frank's Super now hits an entire circle around him!"

Charge rate: 3 and 1/3 supers

The effect of Frank's hypercharge is both good and bad. The good news is the 360 degree super can be useful if there are enemies all around you, and it covers a much larger area. The bad news is you often end up breaking too many walls, which is bad for Frank, and it actually has less range then Frank's normal super. However, the speed boost Frank gets during his hypercharge make it more than worthwhile to get, making him super fast and allowing him to close down his targets much faster.

Hyper Buffie

"Main attack speed is increased to max while Frank is Hypercharged!"

This is an incredibly strong hyper buffie, making Frank's attacks come out instantly while hypercharged. This fixes his only real weakness, that being his attack delay. With this buffie, Frank can deal a ton of damage, since his unload and reload speed are incredibly fast, all while having some of the highest HP in the game. The 2 second duration buff also benefits the buffie effect very well, allowing Frank to get even more attacks off during his hypercharge.

Gear selection:

Health gear is by far the best gear for Frank, as his high HP makes him regenerate thousands of health per second with it, and you are often going to be taking a lot of damage when using Frank. For his second gear, use speed on bushy maps and damage on non-bushy maps.

Best build:

Buffie Priority:

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

Frank is good into low-DPS brawlers who can't interrupt his attacks, as he can simply run them down with his gargantuan health and high damage attacks. Janet is a great example of this, as she really only has her main attack for damage, and it is pretty much impossible for her to kill Frank. Frank also does well into brawlers that are susceptible to being hit by his super, which means basically any tank without a knockback or stun. Draco and Rosa are great examples of this, as Frank can outrange them, and once they are stunned, they can't use any other ability to help them survive once they decide to engage.

Best Counters:

Frank is countered by pretty much every anti-tank brawler, as well as brawlers who can interrupt his attack and super. Colette is definitely the best counter into Frank, as her main attack chunks him down due to his extremely high HP. Lou is also great into him as he can easily stun Frank with his main attack, leaving him completely vulnerable. Frank also get countered by Griff due to his insane amount of damage, being able to melt through Frank's HP.

Best Game Modes:

Frank's best mode is Brawl Ball, as his HP and stuns allow him to be a great offensive and defensive brawler who can potentially walk through the whole enemy team to get the goal. He is also good in Hot Zone due to his high HP, as he can sit on the zone and slowly rack up the percent. It is recommended to pair him with a healer in Hot Zone to ensure he survives and is not just feeding the enemy team their supers and hypercharges.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Be careful with using Frank's super, as you don't want to break too much terrain, as Frank is reliant on it to push up the map without getting hit.

  • Frank's hypercharged super has slightly less range than his normal super, so if there is an enemy further away, use his normal super instead.

  • Frank is amazing when paired with pretty much any support brawler, as the boosts they give him can make him unstoppable in certain matchups

  • Since Frank is a brawler who can either completely dominate the entire enemy team or just end up getting destroyed, it is recommended to pick him later on in Ranked drafts, since he is prone to getting hard countered if you pick him too early.

  • Try to save your ammo until you are low HP, as you attack much faster when you are low. You can use this to catch the enemy off guard with your damage.

  • Frank hitting his Irresistible Attraction gadget is key to playing him against brawlers that outrange him. Hitting this gadget is hard, but incredibly rewarding. To hit it more consistently, use it from inside a bush or on a enemy you are not currently focused on to catch enemies off guard and to have a greater chance of a connection.

  • In Brawl Ball, one trick you can do is stand behind a wall in front of the goal with your super, pass the ball against the wall to yourself, then use your super. This will end up with the enemies either stunned or away from the goal line with the ball in your hands, allowing for an easy goal.

  • Staying at low health with Frank can be effective at allowing him to unload his attacks much faster, allowing him to deal some serious damage.
