Janet

"Janet will do whatever it takes to reach the top! As a bonus, her performing skills come in handy for rescuing her sister Bonnie, whenever she gets into trouble."

Class: Marksman

Rarity: Mythic

Trio: Stunt Show with Stu and Bonnie

Best skin: Firewing Janet

Mastery title: "The Rocket"

Janet is a brawler with a great piercing attack at solid range, and has great survivability and control with her super. She has two solid gadget and a hypercharge that is great for securing kills, giving her a solid all-around kit.

Health: 3200 to 6400

Movement speed: Normal

Main Attack: High Note

"Janet sings a loud note. The longer she holds the note, the more focus it will become and the farther it will fly."

Damage: 1000 to 2000

Range: Normal to Very Long

Reload Speed: Normal

Janet's main attack needs to be charged up in order for it to have good range, taking around 1 second to fully charge up. This makes her very unfavorable with auto aim, as an autoaimed shot will have very little range. It deals a solid amount damage, and can also pierce through enemies, which is very good considering is has a decent width to it as well. This also makes it great to hit enemies behind walls, which not very many brawlers do well.

Super: Crescendo

"Janet uses her jetpack to take to the skies for a moment, where she attacks opponents from above for the full duration."

Damage: 7 x 800 to 1600

Duration: 6 seconds

Janet's super makes her completely invulnerable to damage, and she attacks by dropping bombs on enemies below. This makes it a great reactionary super to avoid death. The bombs she drops deal moderate damage, however Janet is very hard to control while in the air, as it is very hard to stay in one spot. She also cannot reload her ammo or heal while in their air.

Gadget 1: Drop The Bass

"Janet deploys a speaker that deals 200 damage per second to all enemies in the area until it gets destroyed."

Cooldown: 20 seconds

This gadget places a turret that deals low damage in a huge radius around it, having 1000 health at max level and decaying 10% of its health every second. This gadget is amazing for scouting enemies in bushes, stopping enemy health regen, blocking a high damage shot, or even for area control. One thing to note is that you cannot use this gadget while Janet is using her super. Overall, the utility this gadget can provide makes it a great addition to Janet's kit.

Gadget 2: Backstage Pass

"Janet's next High Note pushes her back, even over walls. The more focused her attack is, the further she'll be pushed back."

Cooldown: 16 seconds

This gadget offers Janet some extra mobility, allowing her to jump over walls and projectiles. It can occasionally be useful for assassinations or to jump away from danger, but Janet's super provides the same, so it doesn't really add too much to Janet's kit.

Star Power 1: Stage View

"When in the air with her jetpack, Janet reveals a large area of bushes around herself."

This gadget can occasionally be useful on maps that have a ton of bushes, however Janet will likely already reveal enemies if she is flying above them. Additionally, her Drop The Bass gadget is already great for scouting bushes, making this star power mostly redundant.

Star Power 2: Vocal Warm Up

"Janet's attack focuses 30% faster."

This star power provides a simple yet amazing buff for Janet, as you will almost always be fully charging up her attacks. This star power allows you to charge it up much faster, overall increasing Janet's damage output at long range.

Hypercharge: Magnum Opus

"Janet retains full movement control during her Super."

Charge rate: 2 and 1/2 supers

This hypercharge allows Janet to move like normal while supering, making it much easier to control where you are going. This results in it being great for securing kills with the bombs, as Janet is completely immune to all damage while having full control of where she can drop her bombs.

Gear selection:

Janet's best gears are shield, vision, and damage. Shield and damage provide solid stat buffs for Janet, and since Janet's attack has a fast reload speed and good coverage, vision gear works well with her. Janet is also often played on bushy maps, so combining speed and vision is good as well.

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

Janet is good into most tank counters, as she can output more consistent damage at long range than them. She also has great survivability with her super, allowing her to dodge their high burst and crowd control. Brawlers such as Tara, Chester, and Emz struggle against Janet due to their lack in range, and low mobility, allowing Janet to easily chip them down. Tara in particular is a great matchup due to Janet's main attack being able to pierce through Tara's shadows, and Janet's super being a great escape tool whenever Tara uses her super.

Best Counters:

Janet mainly gets shut down by aggressive brawlers, as she doesn't have the burst damage or crowd control to deal with them and is often forced to use her super against them just to survive. Frank, Kenji, and Draco are brawlers that are nearly impossible for Janet to kill due to their insane health and pressure being able to easily overwhelm Janet.

Best Game Modes:

Janet is an amazing Gem Grab brawler, as her good range and amazing survivability makes her a top tier gem carrier. When she reaches 10 gems, she can simply wait until there are 6 seconds left and then use her super, as she cannot be killed while in the air. Janet can also be decent on some bushy Brawl Ball maps to provide vision for her team, as she has many abilities that are great for scouting bushes and revealing enemies.

Tips and Tricks:

  • You should never auto aim with Janet unless you are right on top of an enemy, as her attack range is incredibly short if you auto aim. You almost always want to fully charge up her attacks, as you often need as much range as possible.

  • Janet's main attack is great for chipping down opponents, as it has a fast reload speed, good range, and is wide enough to hit enemies consistently.

  • Janet's main attack is also great for peeking around walls, as the projectile hitbox is large enough for it to hit enemies behind walls if aimed properly.

  • Janet's super is great defensively, but you can also use it offensively to put pressure on the enemy team.

  • When using Janet's super, if you are low on health/ammo, make sure to land in a safe spot so you won't immediately die upon landing. If you have high health and ammo, you can use the landing as an assassination, as you can burst down targets quickly if you land right next to them.

  • Use Janet's Drop The Bass gadget to reveal enemies hidden in bushes, or to stop nearby enemies from regenerating their health.

  • When using Janet's hypercharge, it is often best to use the super right before the hypercharge duration runs out, as you will still be in full control the whole super, and will cycle your next hypercharge more effectively.

  • If you are standing right above an enemy, Janet's hypercharged bombs can often fly out in the direction you are moving. Try to stand still occasionally when you are directly on top of the enemy to have the bombs drop right below you.
