Otis is a great shutdown to any aggressive brawler with his high burst damage and crowd control. He also has a solid amount of range and control abilities to improve his other matchups. However, he is completely reliant on his second star power for extra damage and charging.

Otis's main attack deals a good amount of damage close up, and can even hit enemies at a distance. It's also relatively easy to connect multiple projectiles, as they have a large hitbox size and slight spread.​

Super: Silent Seabed

"Otis flings Cil who grabs onto the first enemy hit and prevents them from attacking for a short while."

Damage: 3 x 340 to 680

Duration: 3 seconds

Range: Long

Otis's super is a 3 second mute, allowing the enemies to move but not use any other ability. This super is an amazing shutdown to almost any aggressive brawler, as they will be rendered useless while Otis can burst them down with his high damage main attack.

Gadget 1: Dormant Star

"The next starfish will stay on the ground if an enemy is not hit, laying dormant until an enemy gets close."

Cooldown: 11 seconds

This gadget essentially turns Otis's super into a trap, activating when enemies run over it. However, it is not very useful, as you mainly want to use Otis's super defensively, and it is much harder to predict when the enemy will walk over the dormant star.

Gadget 2: Phat Splatter

"Otis's next attack shoots a giant ink ball that leaves a puddle, dealing 1250 damage over time for 3.8 seconds."

Cooldown: 16 seconds

This gadget turns Otis's next attack into an AOE puddle that deals decent damage over time. It doesn't charge up Otis's super, but is still a great gadget for area control on choke points.

Star Power 1: Stencil Glue

"Cil mightly squeezes the enemy with all his might. Preventing them from attacking for 33% longer."

This star power extends his super's mute duration by 1 second, which is a decent buff. However, Otis already kills most brawlers who are hit by his super, and he is completely reliant on his second star power.

Star Power 2: Ink Refills

"Otis now shoots 33% more ink drops."

This star power is a must for Otis, as it essentially increases both his damage and super charge rate by 33% for every single attack, massively increasing his stats. This star power is almost completely necessary whenever playing Otis.

Hypercharge: Silent Stunner

"Otis' Super now also stuns for 1.5 seconds on impact."

Charge rate: 2 supers

This hypercharge makes the first 1.5 seconds of Otis's mute also stun enemies, making it slightly easier for them to be killed. This also allows Otis to use his super at long range, as hit enemies can no longer just run away from Otis, as they are stunned. It also charges relatively fast, allowing Otis to potentially get multiple in a game.​​​​​

Epic gear: Super Charge

The Super Charge gear allows Otis to charge up his super in 1 less projectile.

Gear selection:

Otis has several good gear options, with the best general options being damage and super charge. Damage is a great general buff, and his super charge gear allows him to charge up his super with just 3 full ammo. Vision is also an amazing gear for him, however, as he has a ton of projectiles with good spread, and since he is often played in bushy maps, speed is a good choice of gear as well.

Best Matchups:

Otis is an incredibly good shutdown to tanks and assassins thanks to his super, making them unable to attack whenever they decide to go in on him. Brawlers such as Darryl, Edgar, and Bull get completely shut down if they ever try to go in on an Otis with super, and are burst down with his high damage main attack.

Best Counters:

Otis's best counters are throwers, as he has no way to attack them behind walls. Throwers who are great at zoning such as Barley, Sprout, or Ziggy are great matchups into Otis. Otis is also soft countered by some midrangers, however he can still win those matchups with good accuracy.

Best Game Modes: 

Otis is good wherever aggressive brawlers are played, as he is one of the best shutdowns to them. Modes such as Brawl Ball or Gem Grab often have a plethora of aggressive brawlers that are played there, allowing Otis to be a great counter pick.​

Tips and Tricks:

• Use Phat Splatter at the beginning of a match/round to establish early control over your lane.

• Otis's main attack can be deadly at long range if you are able to hit multiple projectiles, so make sure to line up your shots properly before firing.

• Try to save Otis's super for whenever you get jumped by an aggressive brawler, as you don't want to jumped when you don't have your super available.

• With Otis's hypercharge, you can use it to snipe brawlers at the end of its range to stun them, allowing you to easily kill them even from a distance.

• Since Otis is a direct hard counter to certain matchups, make sure you analyze the enemy's team composition and go to the lane where you have the best matchup.

• Otis can also be used as a defensive brawler in Heist, as he is a great shutdown to any aggressive brawlers the enemy may have picked, and can hold control well with his Phat Splatter gadget.

• You can also use Phat Splatter as a finisher for brawlers that are just outside your range, as the projectile speed is very fast and the puddle covers a large area, allowing for it to be an almost guaranteed hit if you auto aim it.​
