8-Bit

"An arcade game famous for its brutal difficulty, 8-Bit always hated its player. Now that it's missing one of its guns, it's angrier than ever before."

Class: Damage Dealer

Rarity: Super Rare

Trio: Arcade with Brock and Rico

Best skin: Virus 8-Bit

Mastery title: "SYS 64738"

8-Bit is a brawler with amazing health, damage, range, and can even provide a very good damage boost to his teammates, which can be amazing at controlling the map. However, he is balanced out by his extremely slow movement speed

Health: 5000 to 10000

Movement speed: Very Slow

Main Attack: Blaster Beams

"Shoots a burst of Blaster Beams that damage any opponent they hit. The beams have a slight spread."

Damage: 6 x 320 to 640

Range: Very Long

Reload speed: Normal

8-Bit has a solid high damage main attack with long range. The spread of the bullets also make it slightly easier to hit at longer ranges. However, since 8-Bit is so slow, it is hard for him to fully clip enemies since he cannot match their movement.

Super: Damage Booster

"Deploys a turret that increases the damage output of all friendly Brawlers in its area of effect."

Damage Booster Health: 2800 to 5600

Damage Boost: 35%

8-Bit has a great super, as the damage boost is massive and affects teammates inside its radius. It makes 8-Bit a semi support brawler, as he can pairs well with his team. However, the radius of the booster is quite small.

Gadget 1: Cheat Cartridge

"8-Bit instantly teleports to his Damage Booster."

Cooldown: 18 seconds

This is an amazing gadget for 8-Bit, as it gives him some much needed mobility. He can use this gadget to retreat, dodge shots, or to get back into the action fast from spawn.

Gadget 2: Extra Credits

"8-Bit's next attack has the number of projectiles increased to 18."

Cooldown: 11 seconds

This is not too great of a gadget, as you will almost always end up missing most of the projectiles on an enemy brawler because it takes a long time to unload. However, it is good in Heist, since the safe is a stationary target and can easily get hit by all the projectiles. The shot also only takes 1 ammo to fire.

Star Power 1: Boosted Booster

"Increases the Damage Booster's range by 50% and boosts damage by an additional 15%."

This turns 8-Bit's super into something that can make him and his teammates rain down damage from a massive radius. The 50% damage increase leads to him and his team shredding anything that comes close. If not destroyed, the turret can become a serious problem with this star power.

Star Power 2: Plugged In

"When 8-Bit is near his Damage Booster, he will plug in and have increased movement speed."

This is also solid star power, as it partially fixes 8-Bit's weakness, which is his slow speed. However, the radius isn't insanely large, and if he is plugged in, it also reveals his position in bushes, which can be detrimental at times.

Hypercharge: Aimbot

"8-Bit's turret now has a laser that shoots nearby enemies. Shots do 230 damage."

Charge rate: 2 and 2/3 supers

Speed buff: 26%

Damage buff: 25%

Shield buff: 5%

This is not a great hypercharge, as you want to place the turret in a safe spot behind walls, so it won't shoot very often. The laser damage is also really bad. However, the turret actually gains more HP, going up to 7400. This and the face that 8-Bit benefits immensely from the stat boosts makes this hypercharge not a complete waste.

Epic Gear: Reload Speed

This gear increases 8-Bit's reload speed by 15%.

Gear selection:

8-Bit should pretty much always use the reload gear, however the second gear choice can be hard. Damage, health, speed and vision all work great on him. Damage is great for Heist, health is great because of his high HP and the fact that he is prone to taking damage often, speed fixes his slow speed while he is in bushes, and vision is great with his main attack since it fires several projectiles. The best 2nd gear choice is probably health, as you don't need bushes to get value out of it.

Other good abilities to buy:

Best Matchups:

8-Bit is a brawler that has a lot of good and bad matchups. Good matchups for him are brawlers that need to push into him and don't deal a ton of damage themselves. Gene is a good example of this as he needs to push up to get significant damage on 8-Bit, and he has no way to destroy his turret(unless he wastes his super). Bonnie is also a good matchup as she doesn't deal the most damage at range, is slow, and if she tries to jump on 8-Bit, he can simply teleport away or melt her with his damage. He can also do good into Pearl, as she likes to play passive and destroy squishy brawlers, however 8-Bit is very tanky, outranges, and outdamages her.

Best Counters:

8-Bit is countered by heavy hitting marksmen, brawlers who can destroy his turret over walls, and brawlers who can crowd control him. Piper is an amazing counter as she can 3 shot 8-Bit, and can reload fast with her Snappy Sniping star power if she connects her shots, which is easy against 8-Bit because he is so slow. Squeak is also good because he can destroy 8-Bit's turret behind walls, and can crowd control him with his Residue gadget and Super Sticky star power. Collette is also an amazing counter as she does massive damage to him due to his high HP, and can push him around with her Push It star power.

Best Game Modes:

8-Bit is great on Gem Grab, as he is an amazing gem carrier due to his survivability with his Cheat Cartridge gadget and range. He is also good on Bounty, as once he gets the lead and his turret in a safe place, it is almost impossible to push into his team because of their damage. He is also good in Heist, as he does a lot of damage and his super can be great on both offense and defense.

Tips and Tricks:

  • 8-Bit is a very matchup dependent brawler. This means you should try to last pick him in ranked, and switch lanes with your teammates to get out of a bad matchup.

  • You should almost always be placing your super behind walls, as it can take a while to build up against good players. A well placed 8-Bit turret can win you the game in the long run.

  • Since 8-Bit is a pseudo support brawler, try to learn his synergies. He pair great with marksmen, as they can one shot people across the map with the damage boost, and Byron, as he can heal a ton when boosted.

  • If necessary, you can use 8-Bit's Cheat Cartridge gadget aggressively to get a kill. However, this is rare, and this gadget should almost always be used defensively.

  • 8-Bit is often played as a brawler who can provide sustained defense. It is important the not go too aggressive with 8-Bit, unless you don't have your turret up yet.

  • Getting 8-Bit's first super is your main priority. It can take a while to charge, but it can win you the game if used properly.

  • Know when to use 8-Bit's super offensively or defensively on Heist. This is based on your team comp, the enemy comp, and whether you are winning or losing.
